CAR SHOW

STATION LEEUWARDEN

“Car Show” is a light art installation about place, cars and the city. Cars are immensely important tools and means of transport, and have determined the shape of our contemporary cities. But cars are also something more: they can be a status symbol, a luxury item, and an expression of attitude to life; usually masculin. By redesigning and repurposing vehicles, the work transforms them from value-laden objects into cinematic images in the cityscape.

Visual artist Anne Roininen lives and works in Helsinki, and has been making socially engaged site-specific art installations since 2012. She is best known for her light art installations in apartment buildings, in which the houses are illuminated in different colors.
