Open Call Botteghe Digitali Summerschool 2023

What about developing your talents in Italy this summer? We most happily announce that there is an opening again for artists up to 35 years of age to join us in Italy for the Botteghe Digitali Summerschool and possibly also for a 1-week makersplace and presentation at Invisible Cities Festival in Gorizia/Italy! – And this time we hope it can all take place offline -. Media Art Friesland is invited to propose artists who will be especially considered in the selection procedure in which we are also involved. The deadline is the 3rd of August 12.00h.

SUMMER SCHOOL

The Summer School takes place from 25 to 28 August 2022 with workshops and masterclasses by a.o. Rimini Protokoll – Berlin, Kepler 452 – Bologna, Creea – Udine, PiNa – Koper, and professor Fabrizio Panozzo – Ca ‘Foscari University of Venice (Artistic Management), expert in city management and place marketing. We approach the role of arts and creativity in relation to city development from many different angles.

RESIDENCY

A limited number of Summer School participants may also join the Creative Residencies in the week from 29 August to 4 September. A maximum of five artists realizes pre-thought concepts that will be presented at Invisible Cities Festival in Gorizia on September 4th. These concepts should revolve around the history of cities and the collaboration between arts and business life. It may make use of typical regional materials, habits and traditions – from there and/or where you come from. The concepts will be realized in the beautiful ancient Via Rastelli, a narrow street with many shops in the heart of Gorizia.

All artistic disciplines will be considered. Keep however in mind that our preference will always be for any proposals in the wide field of media arts. Please find more detailed info and practicalities in the Facebook-event.

HOW TO APPLY

If you think ’this is my project!’, please send your application to mediaartfriesland@gmail.com before the 3rd of August. Your application may be brief:
– a short introductory text about you and your artistic work;
– your CV;
– a few strong examples of earlier work.
If you opt for the Creative Residency, please also share an outline of the project you would like to realize – 1 page is enough. We will select a maximum of five artists from our network who may participate either in the Summer School or in the combination of Summer School and residencies.
