For Iternity

Requiem for an eternal dying swan

For iTernity is an audiovisual installation based on the famous ballet-solo ‘The dying swan’. But this swan is uploaded in the virtual ‘cloud’. Where she is everywhere and dances forever. Like everything on the internet, you need a screen to see her. This screen will be handed out to you at the entrance. Can you catch the dance of the dying swan? Try to follow her and maybe you’ll start to dance with her…

While one person can only see a fragment of reality, together we might be able to see the bigger picture. For iTernity is inspired by the virtual world. Our data is omnipresent on the internet and our profile-pictures never grow old. Maybe we could even say we have finally become immortal. But we will need a screen to see and to be seen.

The music you hear is Mozarts ‘Requiem’ but sung by the Californian YouTube- vlogger Trisha Paytas. Trisha has died on Wikipedia. Now Trisha sings, without her knowing, her own requiem.

Choreographer Katja Heitmann (DE/NL) lavitates between fine art, performance and installation. In her work she researches what moves mankind in contemporary life. In 2016 she won the Award of the Dutch Dance Days.
